Why Doug?

Hi, I'm Doug Howard - a licensed engineer, whose true passion is people.

I’m on a mission to break the cycle of bad leadership throughout engineering. As an engineering manager, I transformed a team of 5 (start-up) into a global leading 40 person department - but growing at this scale required a holistic approach to leadership. Instead of measuring production KPI’s or tech skills - I focused on helping each person become a better leader. This is the key ingredient to exponential growth, and after seeing the impact it had on each person - I was inspired to take it further!

I developed the Management Blueprint for Engineers because of how difficult it was for me to learn these skills on my own when I first moved into management. I was thrown into the deep end to figure out everything on my own, without any training resources or role models to learn from. Most management courses and leadership books didn’t resonate with my way of thinking, either. 

After giving up on the traditional methods, I developed my own frameworks focused on teaching these skills in ways that resonate with logical-minded engineers - which allows you to build a management style that works for you, your natural personality and strengths.
FAQ
Q: When does the program begin?
A: Our first live session is on Tuesday, January 9th
- from there we’ll meet on consecutive Tuesdays until the program is completed through 2/13/24.
Live sessions will be held in the evenings (ET) and they will last 90 minutes.
Q: I work full time, what is the time requirement each week?
A: I know all engineering managers are super busy, which is why this program is designed to provide you with a lot of flexibility outside of the live training sessions.

You can expect 90-120 minutes of training videos and homework exercises in between the live sessions, but everything is broken up into manageable-sized content, giving you the ability to slide the training in at your schedule - whether that’s filling out a workbook on your lunch break, or listening to a training video during your morning commute.
Q: What happens if I can’t make a live session?
A: Live session recordings will be made available within 3 hours of the live session ending.
Q: Is the program only for engineers?
A: No. In addition to engineers, this program is perfect for any manager working in a STEM field - architects, surveyors, geologists, project managers, accounting, and any technical professionals.
Q: How much live support do I get from Doug?
A: You’ll begin with a 1:1 Onboarding Session with Doug (30 min). We keep the live session group sizes small enough to ensure that you get proper 1 on 1 attention - and you also get access to Doug and the community for questions and support (outside of live sessions) via Slack. After finishing the program, you’ll have a 1:1 Implementation Check-In (30 min) to make sure you’re receiving the results and impact you wanted!
Q: How do I pay, and do you offer payment plans?
A: Individuals can pay for the course in full with a credit card or debit card. Companies who are looking to enroll multiple managers can pay by check or ACH transfer - and we can explore payment options together, as well.
